Production and details of the technology of seismic -resistant houses

The basic principle and rules for the construction of seismic -resistant houses

A group of engineers of Stanford University has developed a technology for the construction of safe houses. Tests showed that due to reinforcing the design with reinforcement, the house is able to withstand the most powerful soil fluctuations. New technology does not require significant financial investments.

Existing technologies are able to withstand the earthquakes of high magnitude, however, from significant damage to the building are not safe. Window and doorways are usually deformed, which entails deformation of frames, jambs and doors. The internal and external decoration is destroyed, no matter what material is used.

The basic principle of the new technology is expressed in the word “integrity”. Each part of the house is an independent structural whole. The proposed construction of houses according to new technology, for example, suggests a drywall sheets to select thicker ones and glue it to the frame, and not be fixed with screws.

The house is based on 12 plastic and steel sliders instead of a fixed foundation. The sliders are mounted on galvanized steel ties of concave sheets. This allows the house during soil fluctuations to slide, which is called “seismic isolation”.

To modernize the design of an existing house with an area of 185 square meters, about 15 thousand dollars will be required. All work can be done in 4 days. During testing, engineers experienced various options up to the point that they cleaned the “isolators”. Even at the same time, the design was reliable, although some small damage was noted.
