Advantages and disadvantages of using suspended ceilings
This type of finish is also one of the most expensive, but thanks to many advantages it pays off quickly. Stretch ceilings are made from a thin, but very durable canvas – vinyl polymer.
Such ceilings can be both painted in a different color, or with matte, or even imitate a metal surface. The main advantages: a flat surface of high quality; the coating is moisture -resistant (if the neighbors are flooded on top, then a well -made coating will protect the apartment); great durability (service life of up to twenty years); high strength (withstand loads up to one hundred kilograms per square meter); excellent sound insulation and thermal insulation. The main disadvantages of ceilings of this type: high cost of a square meter; sensitivity to sharp temperature differences (in this case, there is a risk of sagging ceilings in a warm room and the loss of elasticity in the cold); To perform the correct installation of a stretch ceiling, it is necessary to have special knowledge and skills – ideally it should be performed by experts.
Also, such ceilings are sensitive to careless treatment, in particular, sharp objects are poorly tolerated. It is worth noting that experts do not recommend using stretch ceilings in rooms that have low ceilings, as they reduce the height of the room by a significant value – up to twenty centimeters.
