The fact is that the building itself has a load on the foundation, which significantly exceeds the load that any extension can provide, for example, a veranda. In order to have no distortions in the foundation, it is best to resort to the separation of foundations under different parts of the building, and during installation, use wood soaked in bitumen between them. Also, with a significant increase in the load on the foundation, the building may be subjected to uneven shrinkage, for example, if you add another floor of the building without conducting the necessary calculations, this will add a significant load that the foundation may simply not withstand. Such a defect is corrected by expanding the area of the foundation, which, in principle, is quite laborious and hard work, and therefore expensive.
