Ceramics production: rules, methods and tips
I tried myself in the role of ceramics and decided to collect several solutions to the acute problems that the world of ceramics presented, problems – which I have come across for many years. Some of these tips cannot be found in books, now I will try to explain the essence of the problems:
1. Clay sticking. If you have problems sticking clay to your shape, rocking or canvas, try the following: use tights to cover your molds and rocks. Sprinkle the surfaces of the press form with corn starch, thereby it will be burned in the furnace.
2. Coating products. You have the opportunity to cover the elements with fabric, a newspaper if: you use the stove of the rollers, the canvas gets wet, which contributes to a more active sticking of clay. Use separate pieces of fabric, large old sheets or thick plastic, so as not to place clay directly on the canvas.
3. Layers of drywall. To preserve separately taken from ceramics, in turn, made of clay, after they dry, put them between pieces of drywall. In a similar way, you can establish an infinite number of layers.
4. Product support. Support for your products while the hand of the building, due to pieces of templates from roofing material or cardboard. They will support the slabs, so you can place them together while they are still soft. Keep the pieces and they will give the slabs the shape while the clay hardens, you can easily clean it.
5. Drying of products.
Make plates in advance and keep them wet for a long time in refrigerators made of polystyrene foam. If they begin to dry, it is necessary to wave a wet towel above them and put the lid on top.
